Text of the petition

We call on the Bundestag to halt the planned changes to the medical cannabis law. In the future, prescriptions will only be available after a personal doctor's visit, and mail-order deliveries from pharmacies will be prohibited. This jeopardizes the care of many patients—especially in rural areas—and leads to an unfair two-tier system. Please protect the right to accessible medical care for everyone.

Reason

In Germany, many seriously ill people rely on medical cannabis. For them, it is often the best or even the only effective treatment option, for example, for severe pain, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, or chronic illnesses.

Until now, patients could receive cannabis prescriptions from doctors after an online consultation – and it was sent directly to their homes from a pharmacy. This was safe, easy, and particularly important for people with disabilities, low incomes, or in rural areas.

But now the federal government wants to change the law. In the future, cannabis will only be prescribed after an in-person doctor's visit. Furthermore, the mail-order of medical cannabis by pharmacies is to be banned.

What does this mean for those affected?

This violates the principle of equality and creates a two-tier healthcare system: Those who live in the city and have money receive help – those who live in the countryside or have little money are left behind.

Even worse: Without legal options, many turn back to the black market. There is no security, no control, no prescription – and great risks.

We will not allow this and demand:

Health is a fundamental right. Those who are sick need help – not new hurdles.
